Spectinomycin (Spectinomycin), molecular formula C14H24N2O7, is an amino cyclic alcohol antibiotic produced by Streptomyces. It is a new type of antibiotic specifically designed to treat gonorrhea. It has a strong antibacterial effect on Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

It is mainly used clinically for urinary system infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and is suitable for cases resistant to penicillin, tetracycline, etc. Patients with disseminated Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection who are allergic to β-lactam antibiotics can also use this product. Since many gonorrhea patients are concurrently infected with Chlamydia trachomatis, they should be treated with a 7-day course of tetracycline, doxycycline or erythromycin after treatment with this product.
