Coccidiosis is a realistic problem and one of the most important diseases of poultry worldwide. It is caused by a protozoan parasite known as Eimeria that invade the cells of the poultry intestine. Species of coccidia which commonly affect poultry are Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. necatrix, E. maxima and E. brunetti. The disease is characterised by enteritis, diarrhoea and mortality. The bird develops reduced ability to absorb nutrients, which results in weight loss and eventually death. Subclinically, it is manifested by poor performance, impaired feed conversion, poor flock uniformity and poor growth. Coccidia can also damage the immune system and leave poultry more vulnerable to pathogens like Clostridium, Salmonella and E. coli. 

The disease is considered as one of the most severe health and economical problems in poultry that causes an enormous loss to poultry producers worldwide.

Nicarbazin premix 25% is one of the guns which can help reduce the loss caused by coccidiosis.
 

Nicarbazin 25%

Nicarbazin 25% is acoccidiostat used on meat chickens. It is also used as a contraceptive for population control of Canada geese andferal pigeons. Nicarbazin Premix can kill the second-generation schizonts and trophozoites,reducing intestinal cell damage.

Composition:
Each 1 kg contain:
Nicarbazin 250 g
Excipients   750 g

Pharmacological action
Nicarbazin acts by altering theenergetic metabolism of the parasite, inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid. was the first agent with "broad‐spectrum"activity against Eimeria spp. of chickens; it is an equimolar complex of dinitrocarbanilide and dimethylpyrimidinol and still used as asingle agent or incombination with polyether antibiotics (narasin, or maduramicin), roxarsone, or antibiotics (lincomycin, bacitracin,flavomycin) for prevention and control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria spp. (all relevant species) inbroiler chickens; there may be problems with side effects occurring during summer; it can cause increased sensitivity to heat stress, which may result ingrowth depression and even mortality in broilers; death may be due tocell degeneration processes inliver and kidneys; at recommended dose, the drug causes occasionally toxic effects in laying hens like reduced hatchability and interruption of egglaying; Nicarbazin interferes withthe formation of the vitelline membrane, separating the egg yolk and egg white. The exact mode of action is unknown, although it is thought nicarbazin interferes with cholesterol metabolism in the formation of the membrane. Eggs from treated birds are described as mottled inappearance, reflecting a porous vitelline membrane. The effect on hatchability is afunction of time anddose and the effect is reversible.
Dosage:
As an aid inprevention of deaths due to coccidiosis inchickens under conditions of mild exposure: 400g -500g/ 1T feed.
As an aid inprevention of deaths due to coccidiosis inchickens: 500g-600g/1T feed.
Instarter and grower feeds, as an aidin prevention of deaths due to coccidiosis in chickens upto 12 weeks of age: 800g /1T feed.
As an aid inpreventing deaths due tococcidiosis while immunity to this disease is developing in replacement chickens, 8 weeks of age or over: 320g/1T feed from 8 weeks of age or over, until birds are moved to laying house.
Mixing instruction:
Ensure uniform dispersion of Nicarbazin premix in feed by method of multi-stage mixing. Or add to combined feed through a commercially produced vitamin  and mineral premix.
CAUTION:
Do not feed to laying chickens.
Do not use as a treatment for outbreaks of coccidiosis.
Do not use influshing mashes. If losses exceed 0.5 percent in a 2-day period, obtain anaccurate diagnosis and follow the instructions of your veterinarian or poultry pathologist. Broilers fedfeed medicated with nicarbazin 25% may show reduced heat tolerance when exposed to hightemperature and high humidity to which they have not been accustomed and under severe conditions, fatalities may result. An ample supply of drinking water andadequate ventilation will improve the birds' tolerance of heat.
WARNING: Withdraw 4days before slaughter.
