Forceris®, from Ceva Saúde Animal, brings more agility and safety to the management of maternity in the farms, and has proven to contribute to heavier piglets at weaning.Launched in Brazil in August 2021, Forceris® – the first and only injectable combination of gleptoferron + toltrazuril – has increasingly shown to the market that its main feature, a single application for the effective control of coccidiosis and iron deficiency anemia, brings good results for the producer both in reducing the cost of labor and in the weight gain of piglets.Coccidiosis, a disease with high prevalence in Brazilian farms, is caused by the protozoan Cystoisospora suis, responsible for promoting pasty or watery diarrhea, with a foul odor and yellowish color.Because it causes lesions in the intestinal mucosa of piglets, it is considered the main responsible for productive losses, negatively interfering with the animals' daily weight gain and their adequate nutrition. For this reason, it is important that the fight and prevention of the disease be carried out in the first hours of the piglet's life.A set of factors that include the low iron reserve that pigs have at birth, the reduced content of iron present in the colostrum of lactating sows, in addition to the accelerated growth of the piglet, causes almost 100% of piglets to have Iron Deficiency Anemia. .Due to these inherent characteristics of pigs, it is necessary to carry out injectable iron supplementation, when this is not performed correctly, the piglet may present clinical or subclinical anemia, which leads to a worse performance during its productive life, with gain of reduced weight and little muscle development, in addition to weakness, apathy and greater susceptibility to infections throughout the productive life.Problems such as Coccidiosis and Iron Deficiency Anemia are recognized worldwide as important challenges in swine farming and endemic in many pork protein producing regions. To deal with these challenges, injectable iron supplementation and oral coccidicide administration to the litter in the first hours of life is routine in farms, which increases the degree of handling of piglets and promotes a high level of stress for the animals. .The single dose of Forceris® replaces the management of application of two products, one oral and one injectable, being the first and only association of toltrazuril and gleptoferron, responsible respectively for the prevention of Coccidiosis and Iron Deficiency Anemia.“In addition to ensuring the animals’ well-being with the reduction of stress promoted by handling, the single, fixed and injectable dose of Forceris® is safer for the piglet and considerably reduces underdosing or failure to apply, since oral medications they may not be fully ingested by the animals”, explains Felipe Betiolo, National Manager of Veterinary Services Ceva responsible for Forceris®.“Waste or losses due to failures in the oral administration of these drugs greatly impair the productive performance of swine. It may seem like a simple change, but the application of Forceris® in the first 72 hours of the piglets' life promotes a significant reduction in the clinical rates of these two conditions in the litter. In addition, at weaning these animals began to weigh more, resulting in greater productivity on the farm”, says the specialist, who is also a veterinarian.Studies published by Ceva at the IPVS (International Pig Veterinary Society), the largest scientific technical event in the world swine industry that took place in June this year, including one in which Felipe is one of the co-authors, shows that the safety of the injectable application of the association of gleptoferron and toltrazuril promotes greater control of anemia and disorders resulting from coccidiosis.“The objective of this specific study was to evaluate the effect of Forceris® on the weaning weight of piglets in Brazilian commercial farms. We selected six farms positive for Cystoisospora suis and a total of 217 litters, which were randomly divided into a group that would be treated with Forceris® and a group that would receive the conventional treatment. As a result, we saw that the animals treated with Forceris® arrived heavier at weaning when compared to the conventional treatment group. These data reinforce the effectiveness of Forceris® in the better control of disorders related to coccidiosis and anemia in the maternity phase”, explains Betiolo.Along with its important role in contributing to an increase in the health status of the herd and improvement in the epidemiological control of coccidiosis in swine farms, Forceris® has already shown that its use reduces the time required to manage a batch with 1,000 by at least half an hour. piglets, optimizing the processes in the farrowing sector of the farms. The product is also certified as “animal welfare friendly” by the New Zealand consultancy QConz, a seal that reinforces Ceva as a partner in the field that always seeks to go beyond animal health.“Less handling of the animals in the first days of life promotes a lower excretion of Cortisol, a hormone associated with stress and which negatively interferes with the quality of pork protein. This also reinforces the positive impact of Forceris® in the production chain”, he concludes. In the day-to-day life of the farm, time is precious, both for the animal and for those who take care of it.And Ceva knows it!Live hog prices fall in late August, but monthly averages hold upIBGE points to record pork production in the second councilor Dr.José Galvão Moreira Filho, took place on the 30th of August, at the Municipality of Itu.“We don't work for awards, but receiving this title is an honor for the recognition of our company's efforts for the benefit of Brazilian agribusiness and the city of Itu”, says Panero, who is grateful for the receptivity of his citizens. With 18 years of operation, Agrozootec has achieved a high level of credibility with the Ituan society. The company was founded by Panero, an Italian who knows Brazilian agribusiness and seeks to develop solutions for agriculture. In addition to the industry, as an importer, he searches the world for equipment that can help the various production chains to develop efficient work with animals.Since its foundation, the company has implemented many innovations in Brazil for this purpose, in addition to paying attention to the environment.Panero is also committed to promoting sustainable technologies in Brazil, examples are the ecocoraster plates, an ecological solution for paving, which was even used in the park located in Bairro Brasil, in the city of Itu.In this philosophy, it seeks to disseminate the technology of green fertilizers, produced from ammonia, a renewable source of energy, replacing fossil sources.“Our concern with global warming leads us to seek practical alternatives, of immediate use that contribute to the mitigation of this global problem”, comments the businessman. In addition, he invests in his employees. In 2021, he transferred his company to a broader and more modern structure, which opens up prospects for expanding his business, in addition to promoting activity in the region. The recognition of Panero by the Chamber of Itu is also the result of social actions by Agrozootec during the pandemic period, serving the local community with equipment, in addition to masks and other aid, sparing the efforts of the company and its employees to contribute to the smallest impact of the pandemic.Personally, he sought alternatives, contacts and negotiations to benefit the health sector, as well as awareness-raising actions. In keeping with its commitment to disseminating quality knowledge, the company promoted an online eventVaccinar — an animal nutrition company, 100% Brazilian and one of the leaders in innovative solutions in the segment — has been committed, for over 40
